From blank slate to a work of art
by Tobi Brockway
A large cavernous living room dominated by an imposing fireplace left our clients in a quandary: how to furnish it in a way that reflected their tastes for minimal accessories yet felt cozy at the same time.
The colour palette that was selected consisted of soft warm greys and creams combined with dark wood to provide the serene ambiance, together with dashes of red and gold (to tie in the colours of the existing furniture) found in the accessories only – rugs and toss cushions. Curves, typical of the Art Deco period that our clients felt an affinity for, are found in the shape of the sofa and chairs, the “ribbon” coffee table, and the mirror.
On the other side of the living room, the design details continue: the silk swirls in the beautiful wood rug, the curved legs of the occasional table, the contours of the table lamp. An empty corner becomes a conversation area during a cocktail party.
Our clients are thrilled with the results – living and dining rooms that calm and inspire, that provide comfort for the family on a day-to-day basis, as well as chic style for formal entertaining.

by Johane Lefrancois-Deignan, JNSQ Design
The pictures say it all. This dining room space could only get better.
Good lighting, creative use of space, colour and accessories, completely transforms this dining room. Johane does custom furniture design and manufacture in addition to her interior design business. For this client, the addition of a custom designed dining table and buffet, personalized the space. It’s unique.
