Lundström Collection at Fashion Week

Lund Strom CollectionInspiring Fall/Winter 2010 Runway Show

Of all the runway shows we saw, the Lundström Collection shone, as far as Tempo Toronto was concerned. These are wearable clothes, and we loved them all.

The polished brochure (from which we lifted the photographs below) describes the collection thus: “Lundstrom Collection unfolds with a timeless and chic debut for Fall Winter 2010. Coats are classic in luxurious fabrics with a focus on swing silhouettes. Sweaters are sweet in silk, cashmere and merino wool. Suiting is structured in menswear plaids and Donegal tweeds, while blouses are pretty with soft ties and gathers at the neck. Easily transitioned from day to night, the collection is charmed with understated elegance and a polished modern appeal.”

Tempo Toronto at Toronto Fashion Week March 2010, Style, Fashion, over 50, Linda LundstromAll so true. There’s not much we can add to that.

There were 39 items on the runway, and we’ve selected just five outfits here because space is limited.  The Lundström Collection is owned and operated by Eleventh Floor Apparel Ltd., 255 Wicksteed Avenue in Toronto. You can see Lundström creations at eleven in Toronto, which is at 116 Cumberland Street in Yorkville – though obviously not the Fall Winter 2010 Collection, yet. This is a preview to whet your appetite.

Toronto’s LG Fashion Week March 2010

Linda Lundstrom designs shone on the catwalk

Tempo Toronto, L'Oreal, Fashion Week, Style over 50, fashion over 50, Linda LundstromSet in the comfortable and commodious Allstream Building at the Ex, this March’s LG Fashion Week was the place to be for fashionistas, designers, and those just wanting to observe the chaotic frenzy that is Fashion Week. Or simply just look at designer stuff.

If you have never been, then believe me it’s wild, crazy and noisy – and lots of fun.

People are there to see and be seen, of course. But it is truly the heart of the fashion business in Toronto. The lights, the music, the atmosphere, the L’Oreal VIP and VVIP lounges and the crazy, funky, fashion people – plus we ordinary mortals – makes for an energizing atmosphere. You can get your hair and make-up touched up in between shows, get a close look at newest L’Oreal products (“because you’re worth it!”) and see what’s on offer from local business:  MoRoCo Chocolate had a dress ‘made’ of macaroons on display, for example.

Tempo Toronto, fashion week, LG Fashion Week, L'Oreal, style over 50, fashion over 50, Linda LundstromWanting to be there specifically to see the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection of Linda Lundstrom, one of Toronto’s well-known and much loved designers, we took our seats and waited to see what Linda had ‘up her sleeves’ (pardon the pun) for real women, with real women’s bodies. Even though on the catwalk the models are other-worldly, a touch on the slender side, the clothes look great. We had the good fortune to sit with two Lundstrom afficianodos: Mette Uffe (left in the picture) sporting an elegant charcoal grey Lundstrom turtleneck shift in comfortable bamboo, and her good friend Susanne Staer. Three out of the four of us were well over 50, and all appreciated Linda’s designs. She knows how to dress real women, and make them feel good.

Her collection was fabulous. Mette and Susanne agreed. The coats, especially – I can’t wait for fall.

And thank you to Mette and Susanne for becoming our newest Tempo Toronto readers and members.
