@Real_EstateInfo Hilarious, but so very wise!MoRoCo Chocolat … and more
Very Yorkville, very chic, and absolutely delicious. Surprisingly it’s not all about chocolate either. We happened upon this as a group of ladies who lunch, and have been back half a dozen times since. We have yet to be disappointed.
The first time, my two companions made the mistake of ordering rich warm, dark Belgian sipping chocolate and a rich chocolatey dessert each. Though both were divine, it was enough chocolate for a month, and they confessed to being chocolated-out, if that’s possible. I instinctively – and somewhat smugly – selected a specialty tea (kucha lime) to go with my delectable brownie, which was indeed a fabulous combination. The presentation of each dish is impeccable.
Visits since included a drop-in for dessert after dinner with my dearly beloved, a quick bite after a seminar downtown, Sunday brunch with three males (OK, so two are gay), shopping for Easter treats for the whole family, morning coffee and hand-made truffles, and tea and macaroons with the girls. (There’s a small store in the entrance lobby for macaroons, truffles and other chocolate delicacies for off-premise indulgences, or as great hostess gifts.)
The brunch, lunch and dinner menus feature wholesome savoury items with not a hint of chocolate, so it’s an any-time, any-crowd location. The décor is lush, intimate and stunning and the staff are friendly, helpful and upscale Yorkville. Late weeknights see it transformed into more of a lounge atmosphere with soft jazz playing, and a relaxed feeling, We were graciously handed a complimentary CD mix of the jazz lounge music playing one evening.
Our only complaint was that they were operating with old menus for a while, which meant that items no longer featured were still tantalizingly offered. They promised this was being rectified soon, and surely has been taken care of by now.
My superb yet small café Americano cost a staggering $5 at brunch, the brownie was about $14. It’s not cheap (well, it is Yorkville) but it’s very, very good. The food is superb, the atmosphere is outstanding and the loos are excellent, all of which make this a winner.
