Closing the gap year gap for Toronto
A gap year is more than goofing off for a while to avoid finding a job – at least, a worthwhile gap year is. Those who have planned a meaningful series of activities during their sojourns return as matured, more
rounded individuals with an understanding and tolerance of themselves and others, with a spirit of giving back.
“A gap year is a rite of passage. It allows young people to regroup, to reflect and to experience life while learning more about themselves – the kind of things that you cannot do in the classroom,’ said Julie. “I believe the coaching MyGapYear provides is a key factor in encouraging personal developmental goals and to capture the learning during and after a gap experience.”

What Julie and Tara have to offer through their combined education and life-coaching expertise is the ability to create a custom gap year for each individual youth that achieves a balance of specific objectives. One person’s gap year may not look the same as another’s. There are four intrinsic elements which MyGapYear.ca likes to include: volunteering, travel, education and wilderness/leadership experiences. The details of each
element are customized for the individual, but together they strive for the ‘cool experience’ and enjoy sparking creativity and focus in each other.
From Julie’s epiphany in a coaching class to what makes Julie and Tara want to get up every morning and move their new business forward has been a rewarding experience for both women. Planning productive gap years for Canadians – right now.
