@Real_EstateInfo Hilarious, but so very wise!Art for the Fifth Wall
Floor area rugs have been referred to as ‘art for the fifth wall’ as they can transform a room from nondescript to breathtaking. Often, a rug becomes the inspiration for creating a colour scheme and room design. Or it’s the finishing touch that adds texture, colour, and warmth to a room.
On a functional level, a rug provides anchoring for all the other elements in a space so they don’t seem to be “floating” on their own. A rug can also serve to delineate between a living room and dining room when the two are combined into one space. Rugs can even absorb sounds, quieting a room from ambient noises.

In the pictures shown, the rugs provide the drama in two different dining rooms. Notice how different the effects are: in one, the colours in the room have been captured in the colours in the rug. In the other, the rug brings the colours – drawn from the colours in adjacent rooms – into a neutral colour scheme. What is the same is that exquisite patterns and colours add depth, movement and interest to each design.
Whether traditional, transitional or contemporary, an area rug should be considered as an essential ingredient in interior design.
